The first thing I remember, although faint, as I was never huge on this band, but knew of it, is this memory of seeing the music video for "Only Wanna Be With You", and it having nothing to do with sports, golf and basketball, but, instead, starting off with a bunch of kids running around in a field, playing. I don't remember a lot else, but there is a distinct feel of me seeing this song go with a video on the TV of what I described. The video I am remembering also felt a bit different visually, like it had more of a look to it as if it were made in the late 80's and early 90's, possibly the very beginning of the mid-90's even. I am trying to remember if the footage of kids running around in a field was sped up or not.
Another thing is I don't remember that song having a Mandolin in it. It was purely guitar.
Finally, I have a slight hint of seeing the singer, and it was a 40 something year old white man with a beard, rather than a younger black man. I know I had my own image of what he looked like before I ever saw him, but I feel like I did see him, and, if I did, it would have stood out to me that he was black.
